Youth Catholic Questions
Question 1. Did Jesus Make Mistakes?
(04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 7469)
Question 1. Did Jesus make mistakes?

I've been thinking a lot lately about how often I make mistakes in school and at home.... I was wondering if these types of mistakes (answering a question wrong on a test, repeating wrong information unknowingly) are sins? And if they are sins, then that would mean that Jesus never made mistakes, right? I guess I would just like to know if Jesus, while he was here, would have gone through the experience of having someone correct a mistake he made. I have trouble comprehending how he could "be like us in all things but sin" and understand everything we go through without having had the experience of being corrected. This was just something I was wondering about, it isn't causing me to doubt God or anything, but any help would be appreciated.

Answer 1. If by "mistakes" is meant "sins," then no, Jesus did not sin. But if by mistakes is meant "human error," like missing a nail with the hammer in the carpenter shop and hitting his thumb instead, then yes it is possible. In his human nature, Jesus had to learn just like the rest of us. Luke states: And Jesus increased in wisdom, and in stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52)

Where Is God When We Suffer? (07/18/2008 06:22 AM) (Xem: 6826)
All of us have been taught that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing Being who can do anything He wants. We also learn that God is an infinitely loving and compassionate God who does not want to see us unhappy. As a result, we combine these notions of love and power about God in order to perceive a God who works tirelessly for our advantage. Unfortunately, what we mean by our advantage is oftentimes on our own terms and not necessarily on God’s terms.

Mass: Gathering, Sharing, Eating, Drinking, Praying, And Celebrating (04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 6771)
When I was growing up, attending mass was a chore that had to be done on a daily basis. Early in the morning, my mother would wake me and my siblings up so that we can attend mass. As a little boy, I found this to be extremely difficult because as a rule ...

    Having A Spiritual Life (04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 7330)
For many years, being spiritual for me meant that I went to church every Sunday, that I prayed once in a while, and that I sometimes went to confession. A spiritual life is what I have on Sundays and during special church celebrations such as Christmas and Easter. http://www.nguoitinhuu.com

Facing Temptation In Our Lives (04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 7349)
Each of us at one time or another has been tempted. None of us is too old or too young, too sophisticated or too naive, to escape some form of temptation. Of course, some of us are tempted more than others. http://www.nguoitinhuu.com

Lent: A Time For Renewal (04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 7281)
As I reflect on this Lenten Season, I see that there are two possibly good news for us. The first is that all of us, including you and I, are not the same people we were seven years ago. Believe it or not, this is certainly true. http://www.nguoitinhuu.com

    1. Why Be A Catholic Today? (04/28/2008 07:57 AM) (Xem: 7169)
How do TV or the movies portray religion? Think about it! Whenever they want to bring up the subject of religion, they write a script that calls for a priest or a Sister. When the media bigwigs need a character to officially represent religion, they call on a Catholic. http://www.nguoitinhuu.com
